Day 11

1. Grammar
We'll move on to Chapter 19: Connectives That Express Cause and Effect, Contrast and Condition. In class today we'll focus on using 'because', 'because of', 'so', 'therefore', and 'consequently'.
2. In writing, we read an expository paragraph on 'Types of Planets'. Then we'll analyze the organization of the paragraph.
3. Publishing
I thougt we'd spend this week looking at some other Google products and trying to use them in blogger. Today, we'll check out Google Calendar. Follow the steps below to create your Google Calendar:

1. Open Firefox browser by clicking the icon on your Desktop.
2. Sign in to Google Accounts by clicking on 'My Account' in the Firefox Toolbar. You should now be in the 'Google Accounts' page.
   
3. Click on 'Calendar'. If you don't see this, then just click 'More' at the bottom of the page.
   
4. You should see a blank calendar on the page. Check that the 'Week' tab is checked on your calendar.
5. To create a new calendar clock on Add > Create a New Calendar. Now enter 'Personal' as your calendar name, check 'Make this calendar public', and Click 'Create Calendar'. Click 'Yes' at the warning that appears.
6. Now just click on the place in your calendar where you want to make an entry. Type in a name in the 'What' text field then clcik on 'edit event details'. Fill in the event details making sure to fill the 'Repeat' details correctly for repeat events (Ask me for help with this if you get stuck). When you're finished, click on 'Save'.
7. Add all the events that you have planned for this week!

Now you want to put a link to your calendar on your Blogger Blog like this:

1. In Google Calendar click on 'Manage Calendars' then click on your 'Personal' calendar.
2. Click on 'HTML' next to 'Calendar Address' then copy the URL for your calendar that appears in the po-up window.
3. Nowgo to Blooger > Layout > Add Page Element > Link List. Now type in 'My Links' at the Title field , copy paste in the URL for your calendar address at the New Site URL field, then type in 'My Calendar' for New Site Name.
   
4. Click on 'Save' then view your blog. Whenever you update your calendar in Google Calendar, your blog calendar will be automtically updated.
