Day 7

1. Grammar
You'll start to learn how and when adverb clauses can be changed into phrases. Today, you'll focus on adverb clauses expressing the idea of 'during the same time' and 'cause and effect'. For homework, try exercise 1, 3, 4 pp. 375-377.
2. Writing
Your introduction is the first paragraph of your essay. The first sentence of your introduction, your 'hook' must be interesting enough to convince the reader to continue reading. Then, you will have one or two sentences that smoothly guide the reader to your thesis statement (i.e. your position or opinion). Finally, you will write the thesis statement itself. Before writing your own introduction, you will look at some different techniques for writing hooks (e.g. surprising information, question, connect with reader)
3. Publishing
I won't teach anything new today, which will give you time to work on your essay. Start a new post in your blog and start to write the introduction for your essay. Also, if you didn't add your poll to your blog yesterday then do that. If you still have time left over, check out your friends' blogs to complete their polls.
